Our design approach

simplistic, honest and organic.

Your home investment will be held in great care as we walk through each step with you from concept design to construction documents.

1. Initial consult

Cue in Design will meet with you on site for a no obligation consultation to discuss your project vision. We will explore site conditions and the unique design opportunities of your property.

We encourage you to compile a wish list by gathering ideas and images from Pinterest, Houzz and magazines. Feel free to sketch your own ideas to effectively communicate your project vision.

Cue in Design will prepare a fee proposal based on your individual project. This defines the initial design brief and scope of work.

2. Concept design

Upon engaging Cue in Design services, your initial design brief will begin to unfold.

We will focus on how you envisage living in your new home. We look at the spaces you require and how you want the spaces to interact with you and the outside environment.

In addition, Cue in Design will undertake a site measure of the existing house (for renovations) and arrange a property survey from a registered surveyor on your behalf.

We create a sketch design of your home for a broad scale understanding of space positioning within the home and how they connect with each other and the outdoors.

3. Design development

Cue in Design will create a virtual 3D model of your evolving home design. You can explore your home in greater detail by visualising the style, materials and how the spaces look collectively.

As standard practice, we obtain a preliminary assessment from a building certifier and town planner (if required) to ensure the design complies with local council regulations and building codes. We seek a builder for advice on initial costing as we understand keeping your project on budget is paramount.

4. Approvals & co-ordination

Should your project require a development application, Cue in Design will co-ordinate all necessary drawings and documents for the town planner to submit to your local council.

5. Preliminary detailing

This is where you can enjoy selecting your colours, appliances, fixtures and fittings.

We will continue to further develop the approved concept design drawings to technical documentation required for accurate preliminary costing, structural engineering and acquiring an energy assessment.

6. Construction documents

Your home design is about to become an actual reality. Once we receive final structural engineering drawings we then cross check to ensure build-ability.

Cue in Design will prepare and arrange all drawing documents for the certifier to submit for building approval ready for your selected builder.

Cue in Design have reliable connections with external consultants who are able to provide valuable assistance and deliver excellent services. The consultants include; surveyors, structural engineers, building certifiers, town planners, local builders and interior designers.
